Bat Boy, where are you when we need you most?

Weekly World News is no longer on the newsstands, and it's not just because it failed to qualify as "news". Sadly, the weekly rag ceased publication years ago, and was perhaps best known for its breathless headlines of impending mayhem ("900 Doomsday Asteroids Hurtling Towards Earth!"), the frequent appearance of the truly freaky-looking Bat Boy (or his cuter cousin Poodle Boy), and pretty much weekly photos of either Heaven, Hell, or angels.

You can revisit it all at Google Books' Weekly World News archives going back to 1985, lovingly scanned for your perusal.

I used to love WWN! Remember Ed Anger?

There were some great stories back during the time Pope made his first visit to the US.
