Bare your fangs and say "Cheese"

As always, Shorpy.com has the most interesting old photographs. Some with an Animals tag below. Make with the clickiness to embiggenify.

You've got a face video made for radio!

What's the rock-bottom worst music video in the history of ever? It looks like everyone has their own opinion, so here are a couple of lists.

10 Worst Music Videos Ever Made
(via Look At This...)

20 Worst Music Videos Ever Made

"People used to growing mullets and throwing devil horns to "My Kind of Lover" were aghast at the sight of Squier prancing around in pajama bottoms performing dance moves that make Richard Simmons look the baddest dude on Earth. Squier's career never recovered."

Video clerks unleashed!

Clerkdogs
is a movie recommendation site, but different than say, Netflix or Amazon because it is powered by real humans. (via The Fire Wire)

From their About... page:
At Clerkdogs, we believe that humans give the best movie recommendations. That’s why we’ve invented an entirely new engine powered by humans—not algorithms. Our unique database is so intuitive and conversational; it’s a lot like interacting with a great clerk in a top quality-video store.

You can plug in a movie and hopefully you'll get back recommendations based on various criteria in the movie (it's still in beta and the movie list is as of now far from exhaustive). Let's say you're one of the teeming dozens who saw and actually enjoyed that 2000 John Travolta classic "Battlefield Earth". Want something in the same vein (good Lord, why?) but...

More mainstream? Tom Cruise's "War of the Worlds" (2005)
More violent? "Aliens" (1986)
More subtle? "Planet of the Apes" (1968)

(Badass - ass) + Tattoos

Sure, you've got the new tattoo and all, but it's kind of hard to look super-manly when it the artwork looks to have been designed by your 6 year-old niece. Examples of the Tattoo Fail in action.

File Under: Freakin' Sweet

Israeli producer Kutiman sifted through hundreds of YouTube clips of people playing various instruments and mashed together an entire album that is awesome. This album is made of awesome. It has all the awesome.

You must drop anything you are currently doing and visit Thru-You to find out for yourself. You will not regret it. (thanks for the link to my WYCE radio-boss, Kevin!)

Fakin' It

Make your own homemade Pop-Tarts. I love me some Pop-Tarts, and these look awesome.

On a kitchen table two young women have assembled a variety of items. There are brown bottles, bags of white powder, a pestle and mortar, a collection of funnels, a roll of silver gaffer tape. There is a drill. There is a whisk.

Are they making bombs? Are they making drugs? No. They are doing something far more likely to change the world we live in. They're making their own version of Coca-Cola. Cracking the Coke code.

Make your own Snickers candy bars blindfolded. Well, the blindfold part is just showing off, if you ask me.

Chef Todd Wilbur makes a living out of creating famous recipe clones. Want to know how to make your own Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies, or how to recreate an In-N-Out Double-Double Burger? Todd's your guy.

His Top Secret Recipes site shows you how to fake hundreds of famous dishes. Neat!

Introducing Star Trek Perfume - A trio of scents from the final frontier
There are three fragrances planned for 2009 with the monikers Tiberius, with the tagline "Boldly Go", and Ponn Farr, named for the Vulcan mating ritual. The third scent is my personal favorite: Red Shirt, "Because Tomorrow May Never Come." (via Neatorama)

Codetalkers

The Stork Club was a perennial NYC hotspot throughout its years of operation from 1929-1965. Owner Sherman Billingsley used an elaborate series of hand gestures to communicate in code with his nearby assistant. This gesture of touching his tie indicated "No check for this table". A Continuous Lean has the full LIFE magazine photo set. (via Clusterflock)

Flag semaphore. Turns out The Beatles didn't really spell out "HELP" at all on their album cover, but the somewhat more cryptic "NUJV".
